PERKINSTON, Miss. (WLOX) - The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Perkinston Campus honored veterans Monday with a ceremony featuring musical performances and a 5K run.

The MGCCC Ensemble performed patriotic music for veterans and students during the annual event. David Wayne Eisman, who served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, was among the veterans recognized.

“My heart’s just full of joy, and I’m very proud to be here. I’m very proud to have served, and it just makes me feel very good,” Eisman said. “It’s just an honor to be honored and to be noticed as a veteran. It’s very honorable.”

Military service runs in the Eisman family. His son, Drew Eisman, recently enlisted in the National Guard and performed Taps during the ceremony to honor his father.
