LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Congressman Morgan McGarvey honored local Vietnam veterans during a special ceremony ahead of Veterans Day.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War and during the ceremony, McGarvey acknowledged the rough homecoming many veterans from the war received.
He says every American should recognize their sacrifice.
Veterans attending the ceremony said it is nice to be recognized while also taking time to remember those who didn’t come home.
“We were called and we served. And all I can say is to the 58,000 people on the wall, 479, they gave it all. They're the heroes. We came home. We're alright. And to my Vietnam brothers, all I can say is, ‘Welcome home, brothers’,” veteran Michael Gullo said.
