Demonstrators gathered outside the COP30 venue in Belem, Brazil on Monday, calling on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to leave lobbyists out of the agreement.
Activist Pang Delgra and others gathered to share stories about how industrial agriculture affected their Indigenous lands and homes.
“We want to make sure that there's first of all a shift in the governance mechanisms within the UNFCCC to ensure that these lobbyists are not allowed. These representatives of the big agribusiness, the big polluters, are not allowed inside the UNFCCC," said Pang Delgra.
The public demonstration was held after demonstrations in the previous two COPs - in Dubai and Baku, Azerbaijan - were limited to inside the COP venue only because of host country restrictions against public protest.
