West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday, November 10, reiterated her calls for stopping the Election Commission's SIR exercise in West Bengal and other states, by terming it as a form of 'super emergency'.

She called the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise as "votebandi" and urged the Centre not to curb the voting rights of people.

"You can send me to jail or cut my throat but don’t cut the name of a single genuine voter," Mamata said at an event in Siliguri, as per News18.

"The BJP-led central government is harassing people in the name of SIR. Just like demonetisation was ‘notebandi’, SIR is ‘votebandi’. It is another form of super emergency," she added, as per news agency PTI.
