VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Beach School Board on Monday voted on the future of a school program that gives middle school students the chance to learn both English and Spanish.
After weeks of discussion, school administrators finally made a decision on the Middle School Dual Language Immersion program.
Back in late October, the Virginia Beach School Board was presented with options for both eliminating the program, or consolidating it to just one middle school.
In a 9-1 vote Monday, they decided to keep the program, but shrink it down to just one school.
Staffing and program fidelity were cited as the main reasons. The Virginia Beach school administration made the recommendation.
