NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Community members gathered Monday evening in Nitro for the first of two Veterans Day ceremonies.

Monday’s ceremony included the lowering of the flags at the Nitro Veterans Memorial.

The ceremony also saw West Virginia Cabinet Secretary Ryan Kennedy speak.

In addition, the estate of the late Natalie S. Hulshizer presented a $40,000 donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, and there was a performance of Taps.
