A police chase has come to a dramatic end after a stolen car crashed on a major Perth freeway.

The pursuit began just after 11.40am on Tuesday after the vehicle failed to stop on Canning Highway in Attadale.

The stolen car was then involved in a crash on Kwinana Freeway, resulting in the closure of all northbound lanes between Canning Highway and South Terrace.

WA Police confirmed two people have been taken into custody following the crash.

St Johns WA also attended the scene, however, injuries sustained by those involved in the crash are not believed to be serious.

A spokesperson for Main Roads urged motorists to seek an alternate route, with delays heavy and cars stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic past South Street.
