The fallout from the Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz betting scandal has sent shockwaves across Major League Baseball. Two Cleveland Guardians pitchers were charged in a federal scheme to manipulate bets on individual pitches. MLB and its sportsbook partners have moved swiftly to tighten their gambling rules.

The league and sportsbook partners have announced that all pitch-level prop bets will now be limited to $200. The limit prop bets will cover specific in-game events, such as ball or strike outcomes and pitch velocity. These pitch-level wagers will also no longer be allowed to be combined in parlays.

The move is designed to curb the growing integrity risks associated with “micro-prop betting,” where players can influence specific in-game moments.
