The Supreme Court on Tuesday observed a moment of silence to honour the victims of the deadly car blast that occurred near Delhi’s Red Fort, reaffirming its resolve to uphold the rule of law in the country.

Chief Justice of India B. R. Gavai, while addressing a full court reference convened to pay homage to late senior advocates Sharat S. Javali and Jagdish Chandra Gupta, extended condolences on behalf of the judiciary to the families of those who lost their lives in Monday’s tragic incident.

“In this hour of grief, the Supreme Court stands with the citizens of the country. The Supreme Court is committed to uphold the rule of law and may the departed soul rest in peace,” the Chief Justice said.
