HILLSBORO, Ore. (KPTV) - A high school student’s plea to the Hillsboro City Council to take action on immigration enforcement in the area is going viral.
His emotional testimony has been seen by millions online, and FOX 12 spoke to that young man about his decision to speak out to make a change in his community.
“They don’t care about us. They treat us like dogs, treat us like animals,” said Manny Chavez. “I hope you guys really do do something about it because I really do want something to change because I shouldn’t live like this as a 16-year-old, I shouldn’t be scared, I should be focused on school, and I can’t even focus.”
16-year-old Chavez addressed the Hillsboro City Council emotionally with tears in his eyes, sharing the impacts of ICE in the community at a City Council meeting
