NEWPORT, Ore. (KPTV) - The Trump administration is reportedly considering potential locations for a new U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility along the Oregon coast.
On Monday, the City of Newport said city leadership was made aware of information that the U.S. Department of Homeland security is evaluating locations on the Oregon Coast for a new ICE facility.
Newport city leaders say Newport Municipal Airport was identified as a possible location for the facility.
The city is currently working with local, state and federal legislators to verify the information about the potential ICE facility, but says leadership chose to make the information public due to the credibility and sensitivity of the issue.
