BATAVIA — One day you’re looking at autumn leaves and the next you’re grabbing your coat and boots.

Winter weather made its first appearance as Monday arrived in western New York. All the hallmarks were there, including a wet, chilly cold, light snow accumulations, frozen windshields and fender benders.
