Melbourne's two-year-old sobering-up centre is barely being used, figures obtained exclusively by 9News reveal.
The Victorian government opened a 20-bed sobering centre in Collingwood in November 2023, aimed at giving intoxicated people a 24/7 supervised place to sober up.
A second centre with six beds for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people was also opened in St Kilda.
But two years on from opening, less than 2260 people have used the facilities, new data obtained by 9News reveals.
That equates to an average of just three occupied beds out of 26 at any given time.
The government argues the beds are a "last resort" and said the service has helped more than 64,000 people in its two years of operation.
