Welcome to Lane week.
With Florida football facing No. 7 Ole Miss on Nov. 15 at Vaught Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss. (7 p.m., ESPN), the focus is not so much on the Florida Gators , but the coach that UF fans seem to covet most.
Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin has emerged as one of the top candidates to become the next Florida football coach, but whether he ends up in Lanesville, or should we say Gainesville, remains to be seen.
Kiffin has Ole Miss (9-1, 5-1 SEC) on the verge of a College Football Playoff appearance, provided the Rebels close the season strong. Florida (3-6, 2-4 SEC) could play the role of spoiler, like it did last year when it upset Ole Miss 24-17 at The Swamp.
"He does a great job," Florida interim coach Billy Gonzales said. "Does a fantastic job, obviously.
