Gov. Patrick Morrisey recently appointed Zachery "Zack" Maynard to represent West Virginia Senate District 7, which covers all of Lincoln, Boone and Logan County as well as the southern areas of Kanawha County south of the Kanawha River. Maynard replaces Mike Stuart, who was recently confirmed as general counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Senate term Maynard is filling expires in December 2026. Maynard, 33, said he plans to run for a full Senate term after that.

Maynard said this appointment means everything to him because he gets to represent a group of people he says is great.
