Police and two fire engines responded to a car fire on the M2 in Kent , which shut one side of the motorway. The vehicle was captured ablaze on the hard shoulder of the motorway on a dash cam by passing motorist Gary Davies.

The incident, on the London-bound side of the motorway, took place at 11.53am on Saturday (November 8). Officers from Kent Police also attended. Firefighters left the scene at 12.31pm.

A fire service spokesperson said: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a car alight on the hard shoulder of the M2, London-bound, between junction 1 and 2. Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
