ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of the north Georgia mountains through late tonight.

Scattered snow showers are expected through the afternoon, and these could be heavy enough to cause some snow accumulation in the higher elevations. While ground temperatures are still fairly mild, the snow could briefly be heavy enough to accumulate in the grass and rooftops.

Furthermore, future road temperatures are expected to fall well below freezing through the night into Tuesday morning. This could cause some icy, slick spots to develop and create travel difficulty.
