Summit tries to fill the gap created by loss of federal SNAP benefits

With confusion surrounding the status of federal food assistance, Summit County has been doing its best to help those who are in need.

Three cities — Akron, Cuyahoga Falls and Stow — have now made contributions to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. They answered a challenge from Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro, who called on the county’s 31 communities to assist after the county gave $250,000 to the food bank.
