Bloody ambition and its chilling, destructive consequences are the core of the story in the tragedy "Macbeth," playing this week at Firestone Community Learning Center in Akron.

A 14-member student cast will perform the Shakespearean work Nov. 13-16, the first play the school has done by the Bard since 2019's "Hamlet." Tess Burgler of Ohio Shakespeare Festival (OSF), who directed "Hamlet," has returned to direct "Macbeth." She's aided by her husband, Ryan Zarecki of OSF, as fight choreographer.
