As AI use becomes nearly universal, the data centers that house the servers powering those applications have emerged as today's biggest sustainability problem.

These servers use large amounts of energy to power up (current global electricity consumption is projected to more than double by 2030) and large volumes of water to power down (servers consume up to 5 million gallons of water a day). Power and water consumption are not only straining the environment, but also the communities in which they operate.
