Pittsburgh Steelers safety Juan Thornhill has been released by the team on Monday, they announced. Thornhill, who was signed by the team this offseason on a one-year deal, has been worked out of the safety rotation.
When the Steelers needed a backup free safety, it was Chuck Clark, not Thornhill who took over at that position once they lost to the Green Bay Packers. Thornhill struggled in that game, and was relegated to special teams snaps moving forward.
Now, Pittsburgh will move on from him. Over the course of the season, Thornhill played in nine games with one start and had 38 tackles for the team.
Before his stint with the Steelers, Thornhill played most of his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns. The Browns released him during the offseason, allowing the
