PUTNAM CO., Tenn. (WSMV) - An investigation is underway after human remains were discovered during a fire at a single-wide mobile home in Putnam County on Monday morning.

Putnam County firefighters responded to Dyer Ridge Road around 7:15 a.m. and discovered the mobile home collapsed to the ground.

Firefighters discovered the remains during their search for hotspots within the debris. The Putnam County Fire Department said their investigations division immediately called the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office for assistance.

Authorities say the human remains were not identifiable and were transported to the medical examiner’s office.
