A Chesterfield Township nanny accused of murdering the grandfather of a child she was taking care of in a Royal Oak home will be evaluated for competency, a judge has ruled.
At a recent court hearing, 44th District Judge Andrew Kowalkowski ordered psychiatric/psychological testing for Samantha Rae Booth, charged with first-degree homicide and other felonies in connection with the death of David Ong, 83, of Bloomfield Hills.
Ong was allegedly attacked by Booth on Oct. 24 after he went to his daughter’s home on Sheridan Drive to check on his toddler granddaughter, as requested by his daughter — the child’s mother — officials said. The child’s mother was out of town at the time.
