Delhi Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are investigating Monday evening’s Red Fort blast as a potential terror attack.
Authorities have identified Dr Umar Nabi, a doctor from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, as the driver of the car that exploded, killing at least 12 people and injuring 20. DNA samples from his mother have been collected to confirm his identity.
The blast occurred shortly after authorities arrested eight people, including three doctors, and seized 2,900 kg of explosives in a “white-collar” terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, spanning Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
