HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services continues to follow federal guidance on SNAP benefit distribution. This comes as a legal battle over funding plays out in federal courts.

“DHHS continues to implement the latest guidance from the USDA to distribute SNAP payments,” a DHHS spokesperson said. That latest guidance is to process partial payments. Information will be communicated with the public once the guidance is implemented and payments are distributed.”

The legal battle has left states with unclear guidance on implementation.

Around 42 million Americans rely on SNAP for nutrition, including approximately 140,000 Nebraskans. Most Nebraska SNAP recipients are children.
