The man accused of hitting a Harford County sheriff’s deputy with a truck and stealing cooking oil from a restaurant will remain in jail, a judge ruled.

Prosecutors believe Juan Manzueta, 21, of New York, is a danger and a flight risk. He was extradited to Maryland from New York on Friday.

Manzueta also faces other, unrelated charges across Maryland, but the most serious are in Harford County. He has five cases against him, it was revealed in court.

The crash eventually led to Manzueta’s arrest, and he has now had his bail denied. Manzueta is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer.
