Tucked away off the bustling Claiborne Avenue thoroughfare, a small Central City restaurant has for years served up classic Creole and Cajun dishes to loyal customers who are lucky to be in the know about their soul food. Now, the shop is getting renewed attention after being named as one of the best hole-in-the-wall eateries in the U.S.

Heard Dat Kitchen, owned and operated by chef Jeffery Heard Sr., made food publication Masher’s national list earlier this year, and reporter Ceara Milligan reviewed the restaurant this month.
