CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- No one was hurt after an electrical fire started in a Champaign home Monday night.
The fire happened in the area of Williamsburg Drive and Summerlin Lane. Officials from the Champaign Fire Department said someone living in the home was awoken by a smoke alarm around 10 p.m., and they found a fire on the outside of the home.
Firefighters arrived just as the fire was starting to extend into the house's attic. Officials said the fire was quickly extinguished using a single houseline.
The cause of the fire was determined to have been an accident and was attributed to an electrical issue. No firefighters or people inside the home were hurt.
