More than 90 prisoners were set free in error in the last seven months, the Ministry of Justice has revealed as it tries to grapple with the crisis.
The department has been rocked in recent weeks by a series of high-profile accidental releases, including convicted Epping sex offender Hadush Kebatu and failed Algerian asylum seeker Brahim Kaddour-Cherif .
Responding to a Parliamentary request for new data, the MoJ announced on Tuesday that 91 prisoners were set free in error between the start of April and the end of October.
