An action-packed sci-fi thriller made by ambitious locals is about to hit Landmark Cinemas this weekend, and you’re invited to strap in.
Full of guns and sharp goofiness amid unusually-coherent-zombie chases, Contamination finds a squad of cussing, sass-bubbling mercs sent by the CIA to investigate an observation-impenetrable research lab in the wilds of Alaska – local actors and even real soldiers filling the key dramatic roles.
The “Alaska” locations were filmed and produced by sleeves-up, Gen X-heavy local production company Brimstone Pictures around Alberta, including at the University of Alberta, outside Fort Saskatchewan, near Elk Island, old Brazeau Mine in Nordegg, Villeneue Airport, and Horseshoe Lake outside Jasper — just before last summer’s lingering devastation.
