The Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) helped recover a 15-year-old from Hawaii, according to a press release shared with the media on Monday, Nov. 10.
The teen was reported as a runaway on Sept. 1, and according to officials, facility staff notified the authorities that the minor had previously mentioned being suicidal.
The MSTF received a lead on Nov. 2 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). A caller reportedly gave NCMEC a tip, stating that he employs the minor's father in Hawaii.
The person who called in the tip claimed that the father was bringing the missing teenager to work with him and that they were living in a minivan on the property of a construction site. The owner allegedly asked them to leave his property, but they refused.
