GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in finding a driver after a "serious" Greene County hit and run, according to a release from the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
The hit and run happened on Nov. 5 around 7 a.m. on I-81 South near Jearoldstown, officials said.
A woman was changing a tire on the emergency shoulder when a tractor-trailer hit her car. She was struck by her own vehicle and "thrown from the scene, sustaining serious injuries," according to the department.
A witness reported that the truck driver initially pulled over to the shoulder and stopped. The witness also stopped to help, but said that the truck driver never exited the cab and fled the scene, driving south on I-81, officials said.
