Cal State Fullerton soccer player Lauren Turner died six weeks after she was hit by a truck while riding a scooter.
Turner, a sophomore defender on the squad, and sophomore teammate Ashlyn Gwynn were hit by the box truck near campus while riding e-scooters to a men’s team soccer game on Sep. 27, the Orange County Register reported.
Both were found with “significant life-threatening” injuries and hospitalized.
Turner, who was from nearby Tustin, died in hospice care on Friday after almost six weeks in the ICU, the school announced on Monday. Gwynn remains hospitalized but is expected to survive after leaving the ICU . She is receiving daily occupational therapy, physical therapy and swallow and speech therapy, according to KTLA.
