A collision between a car and an Activa scooter left the scooter rider seriously injured near Polya, close to Kabaka on the Mani–Mysuru National Highway, on Tuesday evening.

The injured has been identified as Shashikumar (36), son of Krishnappa Naik, a resident of Samethadka in Puttur.

Shashikumar, who works at a spice powder agency, was returning home in the evening when a Hyundai car driven by Taufiq, a resident of Kabaka, reportedly hit his scooter from behind near the Polya curve.

Due to the impact, Shashikumar was thrown onto the road along with the scooter and sustained serious injuries. He has been admitted to a private hospital in Puttur.

Puttur Traffic Police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
