POTOMAC, Md. — During some of the coldest temperatures of the season , firefighters in Montgomery County firefighters responded to a house fire caused by a space heater. The family and pets were able to get out of the house safely thanks to working smoke alarms, but flames and firefighting efforts caused an estimated $50,000 worth of damage.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue crews were called to 10500 Streamview Court off Crossing Creek Road in Potomac for a report of a house fire just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday. When firefighters arrived, they found fire and smoke coming from a three-level single family home. Everyone inside the house was able to get out on their own.
Crews worked quickly to get the fire under control. A search of the home found two cats inside. Firefighters said they w
