COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services has begun distributing partial November SNAP benefits to hundreds of thousands of households across the state, the department said in a press release Wednesday afternoon.
According to the release, the department processed $66.8 million in benefits across 364,000 households Wednesday morning. This number accounts for just over half the households in the state set to receive benefits this month.
The department said these payments would go out in batches due to the large number of recipients, and all eligible recipients will be issued their benefits "within the next few days."
The benefits are reduced due to the ongoing government shutdown, and will represent approximately 35% less the maximum amount a household can receive.
