TOLEDO, Ohio — After weeks of gridlock, Congress has voted to reopen the federal government — but lawmakers say the fight is far from over.

Late Wednesday, members of the House passed a short-term spending bill that funds federal operations through the end of January. The move comes after tense negotiations and a mounting political toll from the shutdown’s economic and social ripple effects .

Republican Rep. Bob Latta (OH-District 5), and Rep. Tim Walberg (MI-District 5) say it’s about time Washington delivered relief to families impacted by the shutdown.

“We’re not gonna leave here until we get this passed,” Latta said.

“All these weeks unnecessarily — it’s time to move on with it,” Walberg said.
