MOUNT PLEASANT — The state Supreme Court ruled the town breached its contract for a parking garage near Shem Creek , but left it up to a trial court to rehash how much officials will owe developers for the bungled deal.
The ruling marks a new turn in the nearly decade-long litigation with millions of dollars at stake.
The decision from the state’s highest court Nov. 12 tossed out the $2.6 million damages previously awarded to the developers , plus more than $1.2 million in interest, but upheld parts of a 2020 judgment that said Mount Pleasant had breached the contract with Shem Creek Development Group.
