MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A 23-year-old Madison resident was arrested after allegedly shooting at and puncturing a water pipe in an east side apartment complex.

Madison Police were called at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of South Fair Oaks Avenue.

Officials say that Madison Fire and EMS were already at the complex, as the ensuing flood activated the building’s sprinkler alarm system. Members of the Fire/EMS team called police when they realized the cause of the leak.

Police were able to find the gun and the owner. A 23-year-old Madison resident was arrested and faces charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon and drug charges.

No injuries were reported. The apartment complex faced significant water damage.
