A Chattanooga family will have a new home for the holidays after months of hard work to build it by them and volunteers.
On Friday, Stephanie Tarvin and her family will celebrate the dedication of their brand-new Habitat home in the Avondale community that they started building in spring.
Habitat officials say Tarvin, a mother of three who works as a medical assistant, finished the labor and educational requirements of nonprofit's homeownership program.
"Because of Habitat Chattanooga and generous support from The Robert Finley Stone Foundation, the Tarvin family soon will have a home to call their own and build the self-reliance and freedom they have been dreaming of,” a Habitat spokesperson said.
The dedication will begin at 2:00pm.
