POTSDAM, New York (WWNY) - Plans are moving ahead to turn a former college building in Potsdam into senior housing.
A Missouri-based developer wants to convert Congdon Hall on Main Street into 53 apartments.
The building is currently owned by Clarkson University.
Village leaders say the developer would invest nearly $28 million into the vacant building.
Lawmakers approved a 33-year PILOT agreement.
Instead of paying taxes, the developer would pay $10,000 in year one, gradually increasing to $71,000 in year 33.
Final approval from town lawmakers and the Potsdam school board is still needed.
