AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Local food assistance organizations are bracing for prolonged effects from the government shutdown.

Golden Harvest is reporting 100,000 households across its 24-county service area already facing food insecurity.

The organization has implemented an emergency ordering system to move food more quickly and expects 14 truckloads of food in the next two weeks.
