AUSTIN, Texas — The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote Wednesday on a proposal that would end the 42-day-long government shutdown , but by doing so could make some THC products illegal. THC is the chemical in marijuana that gets you high.
The proposal contains language that would outlaw the sale of consumable hemp products across the nation. It would close a so-called loophole created by the 2018 Farm Bill, which has in turn allowed unregulated THC products to be sold around the country, including in Texas. It made it legal to sell hemp-derived THC products as long as they contain no more than 0.3% THC by dry weight.
