CUSD might be able to slow decline, but there will be fewer students regardless
Decreasing birth rates, high housing costs and the growth of charter and private schools have all been mentioned and discussed as reasons Chandler Unified and many other Arizona public school districts are shrinking in enrollment.
The CUSD Governing Board, district administrators and a two familiar people from a consulting firm discussed these factors, among a few others, at an Oct. 22 work session.
Rick Brammer, of Applied Economics, along with assistant Don Graves, made what’s become an annual presentation to the board on the changing demographics of the district.
