BANGOR, Maine — The Hope House , Bangor’s only low-barrier shelter, is expanding after it nearly closed last fall.
"That's really the goal for everybody, is getting everybody into permanent housing,” Danielle Smaha, senior director of communications for Preble Street , said.
The Hope House will soon be able to support even more people in the Greater Bangor area through the expansion of its shelter and transitional housing unit.
"It means an investment in our community in the most vulnerable people, our friends and neighbors who are unhoused,” Lori Dwyer, the president and CEO of Penobscot Community Health Care , said.
