COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -The Pikes Peak Library District is celebrating the official purchase of the Ruth Holley Library after the branch was once at risk of closing because of rent costs.

District officials said the PPLD Foundation raised $1 million through years of community fundraising, and the Price Family donated $200,000 to help buy the building.

The $1.2 million purchase allows the district to own the property instead of leasing it, saving money long term and keeping the branch open for families who rely on its programs and internet access.

PPLD Chief Executive Officer Teona Shainidze-Krebs said the district hopes to use this approach at other branches to make the library system more sustainable.
