MADISON — A new display in Madison is working to bring awareness to victims of traffic crashes as the city reports record low traffic fatalities this year.
In the last five years, 67 people have died from traffic crashes in Madison. This year’s Vision Zero display is meant to show that choices like distracted driving directly lead to consequences like grief and loss.
City officials say that while it is the driver’s responsibility to make good choices, it is the city’s duty to make roads safe.
Madison has taken on around 50 safe streets projects to help improve lighting, sidewalk networks and traffic signal operations on busy roads.
