New Delhi: Title holder Jannik Sinner marched into the semi-finals of ATP Finals with a 6-4 6-3 victory over two-time champion Alexander Zverev while Ben Shelton was knocked out with a defeat to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the same group.

Sinner extended his winning streak in indoor hardcourts to 28 matches but was under pressure early in both sets.

“A very, very competitive match, a very close match. I felt like I was serving very well in important moments. I tried to play the best tennis possible when it mattered, which fortunately went my way,” Sinner said after his win.

It was Sinner’s fourth victory over Zverev this year though he believed his performance doesn’t reflect in the scoreline.
