A Boston woman was arrested Tuesday for attempting a carjacking in Dorchester while armed with a knife, according to police.

Jenisteen Tomlinson, 31, was taken into custody at about 5:30 p.m. after officers responded to a report of an armed robbery near 1102 Blue Hill Ave., police said in a statement . Tomlinson had allegedly attempted to rob a man and steal a vehicle with a knife in hand.

Officers learned that the alleged victim was working on a vehicle’s brakes when Tomlinson entered the driver’s seat, according to police. When he tried to remove her, she attempted to drive off and struck another vehicle in front of her.
