LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

At Iroquois High School, the culinary program is cooking up more than meals; it’s serving opportunities for students to learn, compete, and grow.

“I wanted to learn how to take care of myself,” said student Nichalos Jordan, who plans to attend Sullivan University after graduation with hopes of starting his own catering business.

He said scholarship support is helping him focus more on classes and less on costs.

A recent $15,000 donation from Black Chef Showcase is already making a big impact— funding scholarships, national competitions, and field trips.

Chef Davonte Bolden, who leads the program, said a single semester can cost up to $10,000.
